Rancho Santa Margarita Remembered is the remarkable oral history of Rancho Santa Margarita y Las Flores, often called one of the greatest ranchos in California history, a quarter-million-acre ranch with thousands of head of cattle, vast agricultural operations, not to mention vaqueros, and a vast and colorful extended family of remarkable people.

Narrated by Jerome Baumgartner, the great-grandson of Richard O’Neill, one of the original owners of the Rancho Santa Margarita y Las Flores, Rancho Santa Margarita Remembered is not just a history of a Southern California cattle ranch. More importantly, it is the recorded memory of a child's view of a unique period of history in America and in the West - the first twenty years of the twentieth century - and what it was like to grow up in those times.

Since 1882, members of the O’Neill family have owned and managed The Ranch, which once exceeded 200,000 acres and now includes the cities and communities of Mission Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita, Las Flores, Ladera Ranch, and Rancho Mission Viejo as well as numerous regional parks, wilderness areas, and Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton.
